Telford and Wrekin return in national referendum on the voting system
The result of votes in Telford and Wrekin on the national referendum on the voting system held yesterday have now been declared.
The turnout in the referendum in Telford and Wrekin was 43.05% of the electorate.
Of those who voted in the referendum in the borough, 14,097 voted (28 %) voted yes and 36,213 (72%) voted no.
These results have now been passed to the Electoral Commission who will be collating all results from returning officers across the UK to decide the outcome of the referendum.
The referendum asked voters if they wanted to keep the first-past-the-post system for Westminster elections or switch to the alternative vote system.
