Social Club

Welcome to the Lightmoor Village Social Club

The idea of a social club in the village was brought about by two residents Carl and Dave over Christmas 2010. At the beginning 2011 they delivered flyers to all village homes to invite residents to a meeting to talk about the idea of forming a social club and ideas for events. There was a positive turn out and great interest from residents many who had never met or spoken to each other since moving in.

In the weeks after that meeting a Lightmoor Village Social Club has been formed and over 30 individuals have become members. We would love to increase our members and get to know more people in the village. So why not contact us, suggest events, join in the fun and meet new people! We like members to suggest a variety of possible events to allow the club to best cater for different members, from nights out to family friendly events.

Membership for the year costs £10 per adult – this covers children in the household.

To join the club or for more information on the club or pricing please email
Carl ernie.mathars@hotmail.co.uk or Dave davejenksstocktakers@yahoo.co.uk

We held our first event a quiz night on Friday March 18th at the Forester Arms in Horsehay and was a great success. Quiz entry was £1.00 per member and £2.00 per guest. Teams were drawn out of a hat on the night with prizes won! Some of what members said afterwards:

Kelly said, “We had a great night!! Thanks v. Much to the organisers.”

Karen-Marie said, “Just a quick note to thank Carl, Jo, Dave and not forgetting Mr Irish Bingo Duncan for organising last nights entertainment and get together. It was an enjoyable evening and a great way to meet neighbours. Come on “The Bumps”. x”

Sarah said, “Lots of fun last night at the quiz. Thanks to Jo , Dave and Carl for arranging a fun evening. Well done Jo for being such a fantastic quiz master.”

Please visit the other sections of the Social Club here on Lightmoor Life to learn about upcoming events, register your interest in joining, submit an event idea and vote on ideas submitted. Also a link of a events posted on the site whether social club, village or further a field.

Meeting at the pump on Holywell Meadow and then walking to Ironbridge – The White Hart pub – we should be there about 2pm if any anybody wants to meet us there rather than walk. With a bit of luck the weather will be nice so we can sit out in the sunshine with our families enjoying a drink. See you there hopefully!
